Natalia's Performance
Heidi Samantha Hiatt
I noticed subtle requests for Heidi's pictures to be posted, on the family chat on Christmas Day. So here she is. I was going to do a "guess who" game out of it, but thought that would not be a good idea as I wouldn't be able to help you out with the answers. She looks just like all the other girls, so of course she is cute as a button. There is some more news by the way. (Bob, where are you? I need you to say NEWS NEWS NEWS!) Anyway, Natalia's kindergarten performance, that I briefly mentioned in connection with Heidi's birth, was a very pleasant surprise, and I now know why I had a feeling that I had to be there. All night, as I was in labor, all I could see was Natalia's disappointed face, trying to happily sing without her mother and father in the audience. For the first time in my life I pleaded with Heavenly Father that labor would stop. At least for a few hours. It did, and we all went to see her performance. Turns out she hadn't even mentioned to us that she had been given the lead solo of the show!!! She looked very nervous, but had a beautiful voice and brought a tear to many an eye (especially mine). Right as the children were dismissed I had a tremendous contraction and Sam and I proceeded to the hospital where Heidi was born just a few hours later. Exciting times in the Sam chapter of the Hiatt family!

Ali's Big News
Hey everybody, I'm sick of jordan stealing all the limelight with his "big news," and everyone keeps forgetting to tell people that i have big news of my own. Well anyway, I got accepted to BYU a couple of weeks ago and will be going there in the fall. So now I just have to figure out where to live, how to pay for things, what i want to major in...so if anyone feels like being extra generous this Christmas and sending me some "scholarship" money, that would be awesome. Alright, terrific.
I hope everyone's getting super excited for Christmas.
Go Coogers!

Dave Hiatt Family
CAMERON is still Cameron, full of energy and makes us all laugh. He is an excellent reader and has done some outstanding book reports. He is doing well in school and is a friend to all. He does is fair share of complaining and he likes to fight with Stockton. He finished flag football and is now starting basketball. We are very excited as this is our entertainment, watching our kids play sports. I think Drew hasn't figured out the finer points of these fine activities. We are working on that.
STOCKTON is growing like a weed and eats more than triple his body weight each day in food. He finished tackle football and made the 8th grade all star team, but ended up being the ball boy because he suffered a knee injury playing handball. He is fully healed and played his first basketball game Saturday. They lost but he had 5 rebounds and some played some really good "D". He also got their 1st point on the board. He is a really good guitar player and is a straight A student.
DAVE had surgery on his ankle in August and couldn't put any weight on his ankle for an entire month. He was then on crutches for another 30 days after that. He can finally walk mostly normal and was able to start regular activities again on December 7. He went to Quincy, IL the 10-14 of December for some training for work. He was just called as the Young Men's President. Between the morning show, operations manager, firing and hiring people, dealing with corporate and their ridiculous budget requests, church and who knows what else, he does have some time to sleep. He is also feeling is age at 40, he is the proud owner of a new pair of bi-focals. He said that was worse than turning 40.
TISH is busy chasing Drew and running boys to various practices and lessons. She is also working at the law office but at home now and is the secretary in Primary. She keeps us all fed, makes sure our clothes are mostly clean, tells us where we need to be and when to be there and tries not to forget anything, like picking Stockton up from school. He called at 3 pm (school is out at 2:45) and asked, "Where are you? She said where am I supposed to be, oh yeah, I'll be right there. " That has only happened once.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!

A poem-off between Brigham and Callie
Cell Phone
Dark evil eyes in a cobweb covered crack.
Think that I look like a tasty snack.
It's fur stained scarlet, its mouth drenched in blood
As it follows my tracks in the deep brown mud.
I glance at the moon which sends chills to my sole
That's when I spot a single phone pole
I reach in my pocket, a boy of thirteen
But I can't help but let out a terrifying scream…
No communication. I find myself alone.
My mom won't let me have a cell phone!
By Brigham McKay
A Mothers Retort
In response to my teen, full of desire
Who feels a cell phone is a need that is dire
My mind is quite clear as I state my retort
This problem is not of the life saving sort
Although I seem old and a bit out of touch
This is a matter I have thought about much
In an age of advancing, flashy, new gadgets
We've devolved into characterless fun sucking maggots
High def TV and life- like game toys
Have robbed ingenuity from smart little boys
Don't solve your probs with techno wiz chatter
Try using some of your old fashioned grey matter
You have two good legs and strong lungs that will carry
You far and a way to a place much less scary
You should have been wiser on which street you will walk
And I want to keep preferences on whom you will talk
Your life is so precious, innocent and young
I won't sacrifice you to the technology tongue
Some day you will need a cell phone it's true
But for now, it is NO, till the bill comes to you
